Martini Bar Casa Marina Penthouse Lounge Review – Roof
Top at Jax Beach
Atmosphere
Laid back modern funk mixed
with an element of classy. Dark red accent walls with some New
Orleans style pics add a touch of naughtiness. Entrance through
the Spanish styled building with an air of Castle like
appointments.
Full bar with seating on two
levels at round stool height tables and a couch or two. Glass
top “see through tables.
Open air deck overlooking the
beach and the courtyard below. Lots of seating and propane
heaters for cold nights.
Crowd
Eclectic beach crowd dressed
the same way (eclectic). Prepare to be invaded by drunken
wedding party attendees on Sat nights. Made for great people
watching. As place got crowded entrance was limited and you had
to pay a cover. Get their early.
Service
Not to great. Waitress wore a
black see through dress and flip flops. A valley girl type
complete with the accent. Rather inattentive, possibly a few
fries short of a Happy Meal. Seemed to rush us toward check
especially as the place got crowded.
Drinks
Blueberry Lemon drop –
Excellent, Delicious blueberry flavor
Flirtini – Excellent, nice
fruity & refreshing
Perfect Ketel One Martini –
Disappointing. First it was served “dirty” should have been
served clean by default.. Olives were floating on the top of
the drink speared by a cut down straw, had to put your fingers
in the drink to get them. However taste was very
good.
Ordered a “Clean” one and got
a semi dirty one. Same straw skewered olives floating in the
top. Olives were not “cleaned” so drink was slightly cloudy.
Should have been crystal clear. Menu advertised Jalapeño
stuffed olives. Valley girl explained they quit serving with
Jalapeños months ago. Asked for one with Blue Cheese stuffed
olives, they had none. Unacceptable for a bar promoted as a
“martini” bar.
Tapas
Nice selection, could have
dinner with many of the selections. We chose the Brie. Baked
Brie in a puff pastry drizzled with raspberry sauce.
Complimented with lots of fresh strawberries, black berries,
raspberries and grapes. Served with small slices of toasted
baguette. Delicious snack for up to four.
The Good
Nice atmosphere, great beach
view from outside deck. Some good martini's and tapos. Fun to
people watch. Sometimes live entertainment. Cool
surroundings.
The
Bad
The table had no bar stools
for the most part. Seemed to encourage standing. We took ours
from the bar, valley girl offered no help with getting bar
stools. Outside deck had plenty of stools if you wanted to
carry them in and down a short flight of stairs to the lower
level. You would be SOL after it got crowded though.
Iffy service. Bartender
apparently could not make a classic martini? It's a martini
bar... wtf?
Overalll
We give it a3.5 out of 5. Add
some bar stools, a better waitress and school the bartender a
bit and it could be a five. Had a nice time, get their early
8pm or so and you can enjoy the eclectic ambiance with out it
being to loud.Great company with lively conversation is always
a plus!
Cheers,
