Three Blind Moose Merlot Review 2006 California
First The UnConnoisseur Review
Damn the critics and price freaks, this wine is very good.
In fact it may be some sort of aphrodisiac.
I call it French Kissing wine (even though it's from California).
After two glasses you and your lover take a nice deep sniff, followed by a
hearty mouthful. Just after swishing this delicious red nectar around the tongue and mouth, during it's finish,
engage in a passionate kiss...
If you don't “get the sensation” then you are probably
dead.
It makes me want to pour it... well I'll stop there and leave you with
this.
It's erotic.
OK...
Now that I have my UnConnoisseur review out of the way, here is the one
for the curious wine snobs who would not be caught dead with a bottle of wine under $12.
Clear blood red at the core fading at the edges.
Subtle oak and black cherries followed by plum. Fruit forward. Off dry but with a
bit of sweetness. Crisp.
Balanced tannin's, medium bodied with a touch of spice and dark chocolate at the
long, lingering finish.
13.5% Alcohol by volume.
Around the web:
Not a lot of rave reviews like this one. Some found it too sweet or too light.
Others called it a crowd pleaser for casual dining . Some gave it an 8.5/10. Some said “just ok”.
As you can tell we loved it and it's value. What people personally like will vary
wildly.
The bottom line is if you like it, drink it and enjoy regardless of the number
ratings like 7/10 or 90+.
If it goes well with hot dogs great, goes well with lamb great.
For us it hit the spot.
This Merlot was paired with a plain cheese pizza that was given some zip
with red pepper flakes. They went well together.
A better pairing would be a pasta with red sauce or a glass with a nice dark
chocolate in the evening.
Cheers,
